About this blog

ASEAN IS Observer is an independent reader-supported academic blog tracking Information Systems (IS) research, conferences, and scholarly communities across Southeast Asia. We pay particular attention to work coming out of Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, and Singapore, and we cover both English-language and locally published research where relevant.

Our coverage areas include:

  • Accounting Information Systems (AIS) scholarship in ASEAN universities
  • Regional chapters of the Association for Information Systems
  • Annual symposia, workshops, and doctoral consortia
  • Digital transformation case studies from Southeast Asian firms
  • IS curriculum and graduate training developments

The blog is run by a small editorial team of postgraduate students and early-career researchers based in the region. We are not affiliated with any single university, chapter, or vendor. Posts reflect the views of their individual authors.

Editorial standards

We aim for accurate, contextualized reporting on academic events. Where we attend a symposium or workshop, we note our presence; where we rely on secondary sources (programs, proceedings, social channels of the organizing chapters), we say so. Corrections are welcome at the contact address below.
